Brief Overview: House of God Worship Center (HOGWC), which takes its roots from the Hebrew word "Bethel," began on June 11, 2006 with a small group of people worshiping on Todds Lane at the North Hampton Community Center in Hampton, Virginia. God established and entrusted His work into the very capable hands of Pastor Garry T. Rodgers and as a result, souls were saved, baptized and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Under Pastor Rodgers' able ministry, HOGWC rapidly grew in membership from three (3) members to over 50 members. To this day, God has continued to bless this congregation both numerically and spiritually. The presence of the Lord has been felt in an electrifying way and many souls have been baptized in Jesus' Name and filled with the Holy Ghost. Under God's given vision to Empower His People, yokes are being destroyed, burdens lifted, and ministries continue to be birthed. Continuing on with the vision given by God, it became necessary to consider a larger facility for worship. Through the favor of God, faith in His word and financial contributions towards the support of this ministry HOGWC was able to purchase an edifice located at 2510 Build America Drive in Hampton, VA. The new facility has a sanctuary that seat up to 100 people, conference rooms, a Joshua Generation Room for the youth, food bank storage and many more. HOGWC continues to be a "saving" station, preparing men and women, boys and girls for the ultimate return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pastor Garry T. Rodgers
Our Pastor:
 |
Pastor Garry T. Rodgers was born in Moorehead, Mississippi and shortly thereafter his family moved to East St. Louis. It was here after completing three years of military service in the Navy that he met his future wife Lisa Arnold. |
Pastor Rodgers knew early in his youth that he had a calling on his life to share the word of the Lord but it was not until he was a young man that he fully accepted the gift of salvation. In 1988 he repented of his sins and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Soon after being water baptized according to the Word of God he received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Having reenlisted in the military, six months after giving his life to Christ, Pastor Rodgers and his new bride Lisa, received orders to move to North Carolina and soon found spiritual guidance under the leadership of Pastor Ron Griffith. While there, Garry was essential to the ministry’s Outreach and Evangelism program. After two years of military service in North Carolina Pastor Rodgers and his family was transferred to Hampton, Virginia.
Upon arriving to Hampton, Pastor Garry realized that it was time to walk in the calling that God had on his life. He and his family joined a local ministry where they were faithful and productive members. During this time, Pastor Rodgers was licensed as an Elder through the Aenon Bible College of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
In 2005, after being released by God, Pastor Garry accepted the position as Associate Pastor, at On Purpose Ministries in Hampton, under the leadership of Apostle Renee Williams. Pastor Garry was officially ordained as Pastor in October 2005 under Churches of the Promised Land by Founder Bishop Joshua Logan.
Pastor Garry T. Rodgers has been called with a vision to empower God’s people “to be saved, to be delivered, and to be set free”. He is the author of Married and Lonely and is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Most recently Pastor Garry has been installed as Overseer for the state of Virginia within his current organization.

First Lady:

|
First Lady Lisa Rodgers is a preacher, teacher, lover of souls, praise & worship leader and the Lady Elect of the House of God Worship Center in Hampton, VA. She is the third of four children born to the late Leroy Arnold and Pauline Kimple, in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. |
At the tender age of nine she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost at the Lively Stone Church of God in the city of St. Louis, Missouri under the pastorate of the late, Bishop P.L. Scott. In her early beginnings in ministry God placed a burden in her heart to minister to people who desired to be filled with the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4. As a result, she began working with souls at a young age. She also faithfully served as one of the youngest members of the Lively Stone Radio Mass Choir.
Lisa later relocated to Washington Park, Illinois where she joined the House of Prayer to All Nations Church under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop John H. Pettiford, Jr., and worked closely with the Young People’s ministry by forming a group called Teens for Christ. It was in the East St. Louis public school system where she continued to receive her primary and secondary education. She graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School. Upon completion of high school, she pursued higher education at Harris Stowe Teachers College in St. Louis and then Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois with an interest in Business Management. With the hand of God on her life while in school, more than 25 souls were saved in the city.
Lisa was united in holy matrimony to Petty Officer Garry T. Rodgers also of Washington Park Illinois. To this union they have been blessed with one daughter, Sharda’ and a grandchild, MaRee A. Rodgers. They later relocated to Cherry Point, North Carolina by way of the U.S. Navy, and fellowshipped with Harvest Time Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Ron Griffith. It was there where she learned that holiness was truly a life style.
Later in life they were relocated again to Hampton, Virginia by way of the U.S. Navy. While servicing 13 years in a local ministry until the Lord transitioned them to On Purpose Ministries, led by Apostle Renee Williams. A pinnacle point in ministry would evolve at this season in her life as she and her husband would become ordained in ministry in Promised Land Ministries under the leadership of Arch Bishop Joshua P. Logan. It was from this stepping stone that God would send them to launch the House of God Worship Center in June, 2006 where she currently serves as First Lady. Throughout her ministry of evangelism at revivals, jails, prisons, hospitals and homeless shelters, many souls have been baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.
Lisa worked for Virginia Educators’ Credit Union for more than 18 years as a Branch Manager. December 31, 2010 God gave her the mandate to serve in ministry fulltime to help with the development and rapid growth. She shares the heartfelt vision of her husband, “To Empower God’s people,” while her ministry is to ‘cry loud and spare not” she longs for souls to be healed, delivered and set free by presenting to them the life changing word of God.
